I LOVE Autumn. The clothes, the leaves, the candles, I could go on. To me its the start of the cosy months where I can tuck myself under a blanket, turn on the fire and eat warm treats. I want to share with you some of my favourite things to do / products I use when Autumn comes rolling around.
1. A good Netflix Series:
When the weather gets colder and you spend less time outside I like to relax in front of the TV and immerse myself in a really addictive Netflix series. Even watching half an hour of TV is super relaxing to me. I take the time to turn off my phone, switch off from the world and let my mind wander with the plot of the series, taking away any anxiety of the day. I suggest grabbing a hot chocolate and finding a series that takes you to another place. My absolute favourite series are: ‘Breaking Bad’
Prison Break – I mean this is just utterly brilliant. It’s basically about a man who is a very clever engineer trying to get his brother out of prison by locking himself away and escaping with his brother. It is thrilling, addictive and something that takes you into a different world. Although I have to warn you slightly violent, which is something I love but others may not. This is best viewed on a BIG screen with all the snacks and a darkened room.
Girl Boss – This is absolutely AMAZING! Based on the real story of the creation of ‘Nasty Gal’ (the clothing company), a girl called Sophia goes through the trials and tribulations of going from rock bottom to owning a very successful business. This is SO inspiring for any working person out there. It made me so motivated and inspired and a must watch for anyone thinking about starting their own business.
13 reasons why – This is a hard watch. It’s brutally raw and a little bit sad, but at the same time spectacular. It’s addicting because you want to find out why Hannah committed suicide. There are 13 tapes she leaves behind, so each episode explores one tape. Its addicting and I spent each episode on the edge of my seat. I also think this one is very educational as it raises awareness to how hard suicide is, and how many people suffer.
Before the Flood – This is a documentary, not a series but I thought I would throw this one in as I think its one of the best documentaries out there. Directed by Leonardo Decaprio this is a very informative and highly important showcase of how global warming is affecting our plant. I won’t go too much into it but I think it’s critical to watch it. Very well produced and filmed, in a way that captures your attention.
2. An Autumnal Candle:
This is an absolute essential in my household come, Autumn. I love homely, sweet scents filling the house to make it cosy and homey. My favourites being Scent by Design Apple Crumble candle, which isn’t sickly at all but very warming and delicious. Another one is Jo Malone’s Wild Fig and Cassis. Fig is a very cosy smell which fills the room with amazing scents!
3. An electric Blanket:
As soon as the weather gets even a touch cooler I switch on my electric blanket on my bed. I cannot explain how nice these are, the warm your whole body and make your bed a haven. It’s also really amazing for sore and tired muscles I find.
4. Homemade Banana Bread:
When your cosy and warm watching TV and want to snack on something delicious but healthy, this simple, foolproof recipe is ready in 30 mins.
- 3 Ripe Bananas
- 1 mug oat flour (ground oats)
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla and cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons of flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 3 tablespoons nut butter
- 1/2-2/3 cup of almond milk (enough to make smooth)
Mix all ingredients together and place in a tin in the oven at 180 degrees Celsius. Bake for 30-40 mins until a knife comes out smooth. DONE. I love to grill a slice of this with but butter and jam on top! Happy Baking!
So there are some of my favourites when Autumn rolls around. Basically, I like to tuck myself up in front of the TV, watch a great series and eat some delicious snacks, I mean who doesn’t want to do this?!
